John + Mary | Magnolia Building | Lakeland, FL

Oh the wonderful magic that is Mary and John! You may recognize this cute couple, I photographed their rooftop engagement session over a year ago! I was delighted that after their engagement shoot, Mary requested to book me as her wedding photographer. Let me start by saying I enjoy getting to know all my clients! My experience with Mary and John was a top notch. Mary and her mom are so sweet and I loved every single one of our meet ups at Black and Brew to talk about wedding details. Getting to know them a little bit better was perhaps one of my favorite parts about having them as my clients! The Lyons Wedding was definitely one for the books!

I had never witnessed a “hometown themed wedding” until I photographed the Lyons wedding. I don’t know if it’s because Lakeland is just so charming or if it’s the coolest idea ever, but I loved this theme for Mary and John! Seeing the way their guest bags, reception decor and even Mary’s jewelry all came together was so unique and beautiful. It’s probably the most I have ever seen a wedding being created to the likes of the bride and groom. I think one of my favorite features of the Lyons Lakeland themed wedding was their reception table names. Each table was named after a person or a place that has to do with Lakeland. Love it! That isn’t the only thing that was beautiful about this Lakeland roots wedding. Lets start with the obvious, Mary looked like Cinderella going to the fanciest ball in all the kingdom. She was absolutely glowing in her wedding dress and makeup expertly done by Kaitlin Laing of A Cherished Bride. John looked so handsome in his classic black tux! One of my favorite things about John’s attire was the Mickey Mouse cufflinks Mary got for him. The pair are Disney fanatics and I was hoping to see a Mickey cameo at some point during the day! I could not get over how beautiful 2 Sisters Event Design made the Magnolia Building look. This classic Lakeland venue is already a great spot to to tie the knot, but Shawna and her team made the space really come to life. When Mary saw it for the first time that day she started crying. Every bride deserves to have the wedding of their dreams and seeing Mary react to her’s was amazing. The ceremony was sweet and extra special because it was officiated by Mary’s Uncle Jack! In fact it was so awesome to see how centered around family the whole day was. It was the first time in years that several members of John’s family got to see one another. It was joyous to witness. I love how weddings have the power to bring loved ones together no matter the distance. Of course it wouldn’t be an awesome wedding without an epic dance party to follow. All the lights and music made this one extra fun to capture!

Overall this was probably one of my most favorite weddings I have gotten to photograph to this date. The way everyone was at such ease and truly enjoying the day made it so much fun to capture. Mary and John, thank you for your kindness and love over the past year plus. It was wonderful getting to know you guys better. Praying for a fun and strong marriage and many trips to Disney with your family. Here is a snapshot of your day!
